Furniture use and maintenance instructions

FURNITURE USE AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

Congratulations!

You have purchased excellent quality furniture.

In order for the furniture to serve you for a long time and delight you with its unique appearance, we provide you with the following information. If you have any questions, please contact us, we will be happy to help you.

Use the furniture only for its intended purpose .

The furniture must be operated and assembled according to the provided furniture assembly instructions (if instructions are required).

We encourage all buyers to attach existing shelves, cabinets, sideboards, chests of drawers and other larger cabinet furniture to the walls. When loading things on the shelves, follow this principle: the heaviest - closer to the edges (supports), the lightest - in the center. In tall sideboards, sections, try to put the heaviest items on the lower shelves or cabinets, and the lighter ones on the top - this way the furniture will be more stable.

Do not hang extra weights on doors and drawers. Open and close furniture doors and drawers gently without banging them. Do not use excessive force when opening and closing sliding furniture parts. In order to prevent the deformation of the hinged drawers of cabinets and other furniture doors, furniture doors and drawers should be closed without noise and kept closed. Do not close furniture doors and drawers with a greater pulling power than they are installed (for mechanisms with pulling).

Use the furniture and its components only for their functional purpose. Furniture that is not used for its intended purpose can be damaged. All items in wardrobes and cabinets should be placed in such a way that the weight is evenly distributed over the entire area of shelves and drawers. It is recommended to place the heaviest items as close as possible to the fixing points, that is, to the edges of shelves and drawers. It is recommended to store heavier items in the lower part of tall furniture structures (kitchen cupboards, wardrobes, racks) than in the upper part. This will ensure greater stability of these structures. It must be remembered that the doors of many wardrobes and chests of drawers only open at an angle of 90°, so you should not try to open the door at a greater angle, as this may damage the hinges.

Attention, screw table tops and seats with an electric screwdriver. Use a hard, stable surface for the pivot base, otherwise the wood may crack.

Attention, loosen the grid fastening by placing the bed base firmly on the floor. Hold the grill when opening it for the first time. Without the weight of the mattress, the lattice rises sharply.
Do not loosen the grid fastening, open the grid when the bed is perpendicular.

Place the furniture only in dry, ventilated rooms on a smooth and solid base.

Place the furniture further than 50 cm from fireplaces, radiators or other sources of heat, avoid open fire, long-term standing near the source of heat can dry out the leather, wood, may start to crack, split, and heat sources can also affect foam rubber.

Avoid placing the furniture in direct sunlight, which can discolor all types of fabric, wood or leather.

Fix the legs firmly, if there is no padding under the leg, it is necessary to glue it so as not to damage the floor.

When moving furniture to another place, do not push it, but carry it, or pick it up and reassemble it in another place, do not lift upholstered furniture by holding the fabric or pillows, lift furniture only by holding it from below by a solid structure or part of the frame.

Do not use the furniture as a step-up or as a support and do not climb on it.

Protect the wooden parts of the furniture from careless impacts and scratches, water or other liquids.

Without the supervision of a responsible person, do not allow the use of furniture mechanisms by children, as well as persons with physical or mental disorders, or those who do not have sufficient knowledge and experience.

The furniture must be protected from the effects of chemically active substances (concentrated alkalis, acids, solvents, etc.). Even short-term exposure to such liquids can cause damage not only to furniture surfaces and mechanisms, but also to your health. Since many cleaners contain concentrated, chemically active substances or abrasive (scrubbing) particles, only special cleaners designed for furniture care should be used for furniture care. Dirt and moisture should be removed from the furniture surface with a soft cloth (plush, flannel, etc.) or use special wipes for for furniture maintenance. Do not use rags and cloth with abrasive particles, as this can damage the paint and laminate. It is not recommended to keep uncleaned dirt of any origin from the surface of the furniture for a long time, as stains that cannot be removed may form. Stains are easily removed with a clean cloth dampened in water. Wipe the moistened surface thoroughly with a clean, dry cloth. Clean metal surfaces with special cleaning agents that do not contain solid particles or bleaching properties. After cleaning with household chemical cleaning products, clean the surface with a clean cloth moistened with water and wipe with a dry cloth. Clean chrome or stainless steel surfaces only with special cleaning products adapted for this purpose. Long-term storage of furniture metal finishes or individual mechanisms and accessories in a humid environment can cause corrosion.

Very high or very low temperatures, as well as large temperature contrasts, can seriously damage furniture details. It should be remembered that the furniture is intended to be stored in living spaces where there are no sudden fluctuations in temperature and/or humidity. The furniture is not adapted to outdoor conditions. It is recommended to operate the furniture at a temperature of +18°С – +25°С. Furniture parts must not be close to a heat source (including heating devices). Care should be taken not to let objects hotter than 50°С (irons, pans, etc.) fall on the furniture. It is not recommended that the furniture be exposed to long-term exposure to hot air (incompletely closed oven, stove that has been heated for a long time, radiation from heating lamps). As a result of exposure to hot weather, the materials of frames and facade surfaces may begin to peel off.

For upholstered furniture

Before using the folding function of the furniture for the first time, make sure that all transport protections are removed.

The furniture may have creases, textile piles, the cause of which is transportation. In this case, manual shaping of the furniture parts (armrests, sticks, etc.) is recommended, which will allow you to obtain the required shape of the furniture faster. We recommend combing textiles with hair with a damp microfiber cloth.

Do not lift the furniture by the armrests. Do not pull the furniture by the headboard, soft back cushions, armrests or back cushions, as this can damage the construction and seams. Carefully lift the entire product from the base.

After unpacking the furniture, it is not recommended to use it immediately. Leave the furniture to air out.

The furniture must be placed on a level surface. Place the furniture 5 - 10 cm from the wall so that there are no scratches or dents.

Recommended indoor relative humidity: 45% - 55%, temperature from +18ºC to +23ºC

It is not recommended to place the furniture too close to heaters and other heat sources, away from vents and air conditioners to avoid sudden changes in temperature and humidity (minimum distance of 1 m)

Furniture cushions should be fluffed by hand to restore the proper appearance, which may have changed after use or transport. When using upholstered furniture with pillows, it is necessary to repeat their shaping by hand depending on the intensity of use of the furniture.

We recommend regularly changing the seating position, not sitting in one place of the furniture, so the furniture will retain its original appearance for longer. Avoid high point loads on the sitting/lying part of upholstered furniture, e.g. avoid kneeling on them, do not place heavy, steep or sharp objects on them

Sit on the furniture in all parts of the furniture evenly so that there will be no differences in the softness of the hardness.

Contact with strongly staining materials (e.g. jeans) is also prohibited covering the furniture with fabrics capable of staining, stains may remain on the furniture, such staining cannot be considered a claim. The appearance of differences due to uneven use of the furniture is not a defect of the furniture.

During the first three months of use, the foam of the furniture should soften and remain so.

Do not sit on the armrests, the backrest.

Do not stand, jump on the seat, support or individual spring bars.

The natural effects of use include wrinkling of the cover, slight settling of the seat, stretching of the fabric, artificial or natural leather, looseness, rubbing at the seams, and the shine of the leather. In the sitting parts, the fabric may form slight folds during use - this is a consequence of stretching and is not a defect in the material.

Furniture with folding function is not intended for everyday sleeping.

Do not pull the lifting mechanism only on one side - always pull at the center.

Unfolding and folding of the sleep and rest mechanism independently is prohibited for children.

It is recommended to avoid direct contact of the furniture upholstery with human body sweat, animal and vegetable fats, solvents and alcohol-containing liquids, as well as with other chemical agents that may have an adverse effect on the upholstery.

Do not put newspapers, magazines on the furniture - the paint can soak in and damage the furniture upholstery. Jeans and other clothes, furniture covers (blankets), and items made of dyeing, lint-free fabric (material) can leave visible stains on the furniture upholstery.

Over time, the unevenness of the shade may appear, which is caused by the fading effect of light.

When choosing a bed with a lifting mechanism, it is necessary to follow the manufacturer's recommendations for the weight of the bed mattresses. The recommended weight of the mattress is up to 40 kg. A mattress that is too heavy can prevent proper use of the lift mechanism.

If the piece of furniture has a mechanism , don't just pull it on one side, pull at the center of the mechanism. Attention, the mechanisms may become loose, close unevenly, make noise over time during assembly, it is recommended to inspect them from time to time and tighten them if necessary. If left unattended, it can cause irreparable damage. It is not recommended to put bedding in a box under the lifting mechanism, so as not to damage it or get it dirty during making. After a certain period of operation, some mechanical parts of the furniture (hinges, lifting mechanisms, drawer fasteners) may lose the optimal adjustment made during furniture assembly and lubrication. The furniture will function properly if the hinges are adjusted in time or the guides are lubricated with paraffin, silicone or other material with similar properties. If the threaded joints loosen, they must be tightened periodically.

Use chairs, tables, cabinet furniture according to their intended purpose. Do not jump, climb, do not use for climbing. Protect them from liquids (juice, coffee, fat, wine, water, etc.), chemicals (acids, alkalis, paints, solvents, etc.). After spilling, clean it up immediately, do not push them when moving them to another place, but move them. Protect the floor of the room! If you have a floor that is sensitive to scratches, it is advisable to use furniture protective pads on the legs.

Do not use the furniture as a step-up or as a support and do not climb on it.

It is necessary to protect the furniture from mechanical damage, do not use sharp objects to clean the furniture.

The appearance of painted or varnished elements of furniture made of MDF board can change over time due to exposure to aggressive environments (high and low temperatures, long-term exposure to direct sunlight, steam, etc.) and due to the cleaning products and methods you use to care for these surfaces. Painted the surfaces must be protected so that no aggressive liquids (thinners, gasoline, acids, acetone, etc.) get on them. Abrasive agents, detergents not intended for the care of painted surfaces, strong solvents and acids, as well as hard sponges are not suitable for facade care. Do not use detergents containing chlorine. Painted and varnished surfaces must be protected from impacts and sharp objects, as even a slight impact with an object on the painted surface can leave dents. Periodically clean the surface with a soft cloth and be sure to use cleaning products specifically designed for the products. Wipes or rags used for the care of painted and varnished surfaces cannot contain abrasive substances. Special polishing liquids can be used for the maintenance of varnished furniture surfaces, which usually also clean the surface. Polishing liquids that are not intended for contact with food products cannot be used for polishing kitchen furniture. A difference in color may be noticeable when replacing or adding furniture elements, but this is not considered a sign of poor quality furniture.

CARE OF WOODEN OILED FURNITURE

First of all, you need to remember that wood is a natural material that grows in nature. The color and texture of the wood gives each furniture surface its uniqueness. It is characteristic of wood that the texture and color vary under different lighting conditions, so this phenomenon is considered completely normal. This only confirms the high quality of the materials and cannot be the basis for making a claim. Like other natural materials, wood is affected by excessively wet or dry weather. Even when coated with quality oils, wood can swell or shrink. The furniture should be used in a room with moderate temperature and relative humidity .

It is recommended to operate the furniture at a temperature of +18°С – +25°С

During the heating season, solid wood furniture can dry out, so it is recommended to humidify the indoor air. If the air humidity is lower than 55%, there is a risk that the furniture will crack. This happens not because of the fault of the manufacturer, but because of incorrect operation.

During the non-heating season, when the air humidity rises above 70%, wooden furniture attracts moisture from the environment, expands, moving parts may start to interfere with each other, so the rooms need to be dried.

Solid wood furniture is sensitive to direct sunlight and direct rays from light sources. Due to exposure to these rays, color saturation may change. A change in shade and color intensity usually occurs in solid wood furniture. Furniture made of wood can age naturally, "veins" can appear on this furniture. This is a normal reaction. Furniture should be cleaned in the direction of the wood fiber structure, as it is better cleaned without clogging the smallest recesses of the solid structure.

It is forbidden to wash solid wood furniture with a large amount of water, as cracks may appear on the surface of the wood. Such surfaces can be cleaned with a cloth moistened in a neutral liquid soap solution and well wrung out. After wiping the surface with a damp cloth, it should be wiped dry immediately. Excess moisture entering through the joints can cause microcracks. To avoid this, you need to drain. Grease and other very dirty stains must not be allowed to dry on the surface, as these areas can cause permanent stains on the wood.

The surface of natural wood must be protected from impact, mechanical damage, and sharp objects. Do not allow surfaces to rub against metal objects.

When placing drinks, houseplants, etc. on wooden furniture, always use appropriate cloth trays or plates, as liquid will stain the surface of the furniture, and the wood finish may bounce after a longer period of time. The surface of wooden furniture is adversely affected by direct sunlight - the wood fades and splits. For these reasons, wooden furniture should be placed away from windows, air conditioners and heaters, which also harm the wood's moisture balance. Some plastic or rubber items contain substances that can damage the finish of wooden furniture, stains may appear, so you should choose the place where they are placed more carefully or use soft covers and napkins. Synthetic, rubber, plastic items contain harmful chemicals, which, like grease damages the surface of the furniture, so it is not advisable to leave such items on wooden furniture for a long time. Tablecloths or cork pallets protect your furniture, but don't forget to remove these covers from time to time and check whether there are no unnoticed spilled and absorbed liquid stains or particles that could damage the surface of the furniture.

Wooden surfaces must be protected from any aggressive substances (thinners, gasoline, acids, acetone, etc.) coming onto them.

If your furniture is not made of synthetic material, but of natural wood, such things as small point branches, wood grooves, variations in the color of each board, unevenness of the wood structure should not confuse you. On the contrary, this is exactly what emphasizes the natural beauty of wooden furniture.

Solid wood furniture is durable because it can always be renewed. This is a big advantage. With proper care, solid oak furniture can be enjoyed for many years.

Wood, a natural product of nature, has the ability to change its color over time, no matter what finish it is applied to. The color of the wood is not one shade or pattern, each tree is different, grows in different conditions.

Wooden furniture is damaged by temperature fluctuations.

Change the location of objects, accessories or accessories on wooden furniture so that they do not lie in the same place all the time, even if the furniture fades, bright spots will not remain on it.

Clean up dirt immediately. It is better to clean with a highly absorbent material rather than scrubbing. Water that has not been cleaned for a long time will leave white spots on the furniture. Alcohol, perfumes, aftershaves and medications can seriously damage the surface.

Do not use several types of cleaning products at once or at the same time.

It usually takes 3 - 9 months for the furniture to reach the buyer from the manufacturer. The oil is already absorbed into the wood. Therefore, it is highly recommended to re-oil the furniture before putting it into operation. How to do it:

You buy furniture oil. Please note that the oil is specifically for the furniture:

Oils have different bases (in English - base). If you use the wrong base oil, there is a high probability that your furniture will get white spots. And then you will remove the new oil from the surface by long and tedious scrubbing with sandpaper. Our furniture is oiled with colorless linseed oil.

Oil intended for furniture does not contain harmful impurities, so you can safely add food products. If you have floor or other oil left over from construction - we do not recommend oiling furniture with it for the reasons mentioned above.

But if you decided to take a risk - then we recommend covering the invisible side of the furniture with an unknown oil (for example - turn the table over and cover some 20x20 cm from the inside of the table). Wait 12 hours. If nothing happened - try oiling the entire piece of furniture. Good luck!

Sometimes customers ask - can we use olive or sunflower edible oil? We do not recommend it, because cooking oil, like any food, can start to give off an unpleasant smell when it expires. Each product has its own purpose. Furniture oil absorbs better than food oil. You can use edible oil, but the result will be worse.

Ambient temperature

The ambient temperature must be at least 20 C, then the oil is well absorbed into the surface. Of course, you can work at lower temperatures, but the result of your work will be worse (the oil will not soak into the wood so well);

Prepare the surface

You run your hand across the surface of the furniture. The hand is much more sensitive than the eye to assess surface roughness. If you feel a rough surface - polish that area with fine sandpaper (grit number/caliber must be at least 180). Scrubbing should be done along the grain of the wood, never across!

What happens if you scrub across the grain of the wood / across the slats? Nothing terrible will happen from this, but as a result you will only scratch the surface and still, in order to get a smooth surface, you will need to complete the sanding by scrubbing along the grain of the wood.

Surface oiling

You pour furniture oil into a flat container and cover the entire surface of the furniture with a cotton cloth, the oil begins to soak into the surface.

Wait 15-20 minutes; the oil, depending on the structure of the wood, will be absorbed in one place, and not yet in another. You then run the same cloth over the surface of the furniture again to smooth/disperse the excess oil.

You wait a few minutes and wipe off the excess oil with a clean, dry cotton cloth or paper kitchen towel. And if you don't clean it - what will happen? After 24 hours, the oil hardens and the places where there were oil drops or balls will shine like varnish, and where the oil has been absorbed, there will be a matte surface. And then again you will need to use sandpaper No. 180 (and a higher number) to help.

Repeat everything after half a year or so

It is recommended to renew the finish every six months or at least once a year. We recommend re-oiling furniture that is used more often, such as a table top, more often.

PROHIBITED:

Cut with a furniture packaging knife.

Standing, hiding on separate parts of the bed (eg: sides, footboard, etc.).

Climb into the bedding box.

Loosen the fastening of the bed grating, open the grating, when the bed is perpendicular.

Playing with furniture mechanisms, sticking fingers, hands, other parts of the body, foreign objects near the mechanisms can injure and damage the furniture.

Put your hands in the lifting mechanism.

For children to use the lifting mechanism independently.

Care must be taken that the lifting mechanism does not fall.

Jump on furniture to avoid strong impacts on textiles, springs, mechanisms, wood.

Standing, sitting on soft furniture, backrests and footrests, backs, armrests, they are intended for placing hands, leaning on.

Climbing, hanging on furniture, on the drawers of their doors, they can turn, there is a risk to health.

Apply strong point pressure to the furniture, as this can damage the furniture structure.

Placing wet or hot dishes on the furniture, heat and liquids can damage the furniture.

Cut directly on the furniture. Use a cutting board.

Placing heavy, upright or sharp-edged objects on the furniture, touching the furniture with sharp objects.

Store furniture in damp rooms.

Allowing pets to climb on furniture, their nails and teeth can scratch textiles, leather, wood. Their saliva has a negative effect on textiles and wood.

Use cleaning agents containing a large amount of acids, chlorine, acetone, alcohol, gasoline, etc. When using cleaning products, make sure that they are suitable for cleaning a specific surface (test on the invisible side of the furniture before use). The use of cleaning agents is the responsibility of the user.

Use the furniture before it is completely dry.

To use, place a heated iron on the furniture.
